This Privacy Policy explains how the Gatherlight application (the "App") handles your information. The App is developed and published by an individual developer ("we", "us", or "our").

Gatherlight is designed to work entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to any of your data.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect any information. The App contains no networking code, no server, and no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. Nothing you enter into the App is ever sent to us or to anyone else.

A. Information Stored on Your Device

Everything you create in the App is stored locally in the App's own private storage on your device. This includes:

• Tasks and habits, including their titles, notes, priorities, schedules, and reminders.
• Countdowns, and any cover images you choose for them.
• Focus session records.
• Journal entries, including text and any images you attach.
• Task and habit icons, including photos you select from your library.
• Your preferences, such as language, week start day, and focus settings.

This information is not accessible to us. It is never uploaded, and it is removed when you delete it in the App or uninstall the App.

B. Information We Do Not Collect

For clarity, the App does not collect or transmit any of the following:

• Device identifiers, including Apple IDFA or Google Advertising ID.
• IP address or any location data.
• Usage, interaction, or behavioral analytics.
• Crash logs or diagnostic reports.
• Your name, email address, or account information (the App has no accounts).
• Any content you enter into the App.

If you email us for support, we will of course receive your email address and whatever you choose to write in that message. We use it only to reply to you, and we do not store it on any server of ours or link it to your use of the App.

2. Device Permissions

The App requests only the permissions needed for features you can choose to use. Every permission below is optional, and you can revoke any of them at any time in your device settings. The App remains usable without them.

• Notifications: used only to deliver reminders that you create yourself for your tasks, habits, and countdowns. All reminders are local notifications generated on your device. The App does not use a push notification server.
• Exact alarms (Android): used only for reminders where you have chosen a specific time. If exact alarms are unavailable or denied, the App automatically falls back to inexact reminders, which may arrive slightly later.
• Do Not Disturb access (Android): requested only if you turn on the optional alarm reminder mode, so that alarm-style reminders can play at alarm volume. The App never changes your Do Not Disturb settings.
• Run after restart (Android): used only to restore reminders you had already scheduled after your device restarts.
• Photo library: accessed only when you actively choose an image, for example a countdown cover, a task or habit icon, or a journal photo. The App reads only the specific images you select. It does not scan, browse, or catalog your photo library.

3. Backups and Data Portability

The App lets you export and import your own data. Both actions are entirely under your control:

• Export: the App packages your data into a single archive file and hands it to your operating system's share sheet. You choose where the file goes. We never receive a copy, and the App does not upload it anywhere.
• Import: you select a previously exported file using your operating system's file picker. The file is read and restored locally on your device.

Because exported files are stored outside the App (for example in your own cloud storage or file system), their confidentiality depends on wherever you choose to save them. Please keep them safe.

4. System-Level Device Backup

Your device's operating system may include the App's local data in the device backup service that you control through your own account settings. This backup is performed by the operating system itself, not by us, and we have no access to it.

• Android: you can disable or manage this in your device's backup settings. The App limits what is eligible for backup to your task data and the media the App manages; caches and temporary share files are excluded.
• iOS: device backups are controlled and encrypted by Apple and your own settings.

Restoring your device from such a backup may restore your App data. This is a feature of your operating system, not a transfer of data to us.

5. Third-Party Services

The App uses no third-party services. Specifically, it contains no advertising networks, no analytics providers, no crash-reporting services, no social media SDKs, no account or cloud-sync providers, and no payment or subscription services.

The App is free, has no in-app purchases, and shows no advertising. There are no third-party privacy policies to review because there are no third parties.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age threshold in your jurisdiction, such as 16 in the EEA). Because the App collects no personal information from anyone, it collects no personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and have any concerns, please contact us and we will be glad to help.

7. Your Choices and Deleting Your Data

You are always in full control of your data:

• Delete individual items (tasks, habits, countdowns, journal entries) directly in the App.
• Use Settings > Clear all task data to permanently remove all tasks, habits, countdowns, and focus records from your device at once.
• Uninstalling the App removes all data the App has stored on your device.
• Revoke any permission at any time in your device settings.

Because we never receive your data, there is no server-side data for us to delete on your behalf.

8. Data Security and Retention

Your data is protected by the security of your own device, including your device passcode, and by the App's private sandbox that other apps cannot read. We retain no data, because we receive none. Exported backup files are only as secure as the location you choose to save them to. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, so please protect your device and any exported files.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add new features. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes are posted constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated policy.
